Stage 2

Design development stage Shortlisted competitors will be required to further develop their initial concepts and demonstrate the workability of their proposals against a budget. Participants will be given a more detailed functional brief at
this time.

At the end of the two-stage competition, the jury selected three winners. The winners were in the following order:

First : Studio Milou Architecture from France, in collaboration with CPG Consultants from Singapore
Second : Ho + Hou Studio Architects from Taiwan, in collaboration with AEDAS Pte Ltd from Singapore
Third : Chan Sau Yan Associates in collaboration with Lekker Design Pte Ltd. Both firms are from Singapore

The jury’s decision and recommendations have been presented to MICA. Further testing of the technical and financial viability of the schemes will be taken into consideration before an architect is commissioned to design the National Art Gallery. Public feedback will also be considered for the realisation of the project.

The National Art Gallery is scheduled for completion in 2012.
